ABOUT THE KMT
FOUNDATION

The KMT Foundation provides need-based scholarships to Mt. Carmel-Holy Rosary School students from the single parent families.

About KMT Continued

MCHR is located in an area of East Harlem with underperforming public schools and high levels of poverty and crime. The school prides itself on viewing each student as a unique individual, guaranteeing superb educational and cultural opportunities. MCHR strives to keep tuition reasonable by charging families the low rate of $4,500 per school year even though the actual cost to annually educate a student is over $8,000.

The Katherine M. Taglialatella Foundation offers scholarships to deserving students, thereby ensuring that MCHR’s academic caliber and comprehensive education is available to all children, regardless of their
financial background.

In addition to scholarships, the KMT Foundation and MCHR’s combined efforts have
enhanced the school’s art library and resources providing curriculum enhancements for students, including class field trips to Taglialatella Galleries!

Our Students

Our History

Dominic Taglialatella, a native of East Harlem raised by a single mother, grew up attending the Holy Rosary Parish in East Harlem. His mother, Katherine M. Taglialatella, recognized the value of education and her children’s integration into and advancement within American society. She was always grateful to the Holy Rosary Parish for its understanding and support of these needs for all. After her death in 2008, having reached the milestone of 100 years of age, Dominic and his wife Sally established the Katherine M. Taglialatella Foundation with the encouragement of Ron Straci and Frank Pellegrino of Rao’s Restaurant, also located in East Harlem. The Foundation embodies a living memorial to Katherine and her ideals.

Upon retirement Mr. and Mrs. Taglialatella turned the KMT Foundation over to the Catholic School Foundation for inner-city schools.
